A TOTAL of nine schools in Cork were celebrating today after being approved to have prefabs replaced by brand new classrooms.
The nine schools are just some of the 77 schools around the country that have been given the green light to replace rented prefabs with permanent classrooms.
Carrigaline is one of the biggest winners, with St John’s Girls National School being approved for four mainstream classrooms and two resource rooms, while Scoil Mhuire Lourdes in Carrigaline will get four classrooms.
CBS Primary School will get three new classrooms with Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál in Glasheen getting two new classrooms and a resource room.
Bartlemy NS near Fermoy, Glantane NS near Mallow, and Scoil Chuil Aodha Barr d’Inse near Macroom will get a new classroom each, while Little Island NS will get two new resource rooms, and Drimoleague NS will get one resource room.
