Colaiste Treasa (Kanturk), who last won the Munster Senior BHC title in 2006 are Munster champions again following their deserved win over Scoil Ruain Killenaule in Fermoy yesterday.

It marked a great season for the Kanturk side as they already won the Munster Senior B FC earlier this year.  Kanturk played the better hurling all through and the outcome was never in any real doubt.

After 18 minutes the winners led 0-8 to 0- 3 and helped by a well taken goal by Cian Murphy in the 25th minute they moved into a comfortable 1-10 to 0- 5 lead at the break.

Whatever chance Killenaule had of a second half comeback was quickly dashed as Cork minor footballer Kevin Crowley goaled in the lst minute of the second half. 

Killenaule struggled but never gave up. Kanturk had strong performances by goalkeeper Colm Noonan, Ian Walsh, Donal Hannon, Michael O’Brien and Alan O’Keeffe and they moved 2-12 to 0-7 clear at the end of the third quarter.

Killenaule were reduced to 14 men but they made a great recovery. Good displays by Richard Walsh, Luke Mullally, Jack Shelly and Daniel Guinan saw them force some close in frees.

Jack Shelly goaled from play and a penalty. However, Kanturk with late points by Donal Hannon held out for a 6 point win.  After the game George Dennis Chairman Munster VEC presented the cup to the winning captain Alan O’Keeffe.
