IT MIGHT be the first day of summer but seasonal weather is not expected any time soon.
Cork woke up to torrential rain this morning, with the highest rainfall in the country being reported from Kinsale Golf Course this morning.
More than half an inch of rain fell there between midnight and 6am this morning, while rainfall levels came close to half an inch at the weather stations at Roche’s Point and Cork Airport.
There is no sunshine at the end of the tunnel either, judging from the current forecast.
The heavy rain was expected to continue throughout today but was then moving northwards over the rest of the country.
Some sun is expected to make an appearance tomorrow but a Met Éireann spokesman warned that it would be cloudy for much of tomorrow and Thursday.
