Gardaí are investigating after an elderly man was shot dead in Co Mayo.

A man in his 30s is still being questioned by the gardaí over the incident which happened at Wallpark, Glencorrib yesterday afternoon.

The 71-year-old victim died from injuries he sustained during the attack.

Gardaí at Claremorris have appealed for information.
