A CORK town councillor has been arrested on suspicion of lodging a false expense claim.
He was arrested on Wednesday morning and taken to Bandon garda station.
Gardaí questioned the public representative for a number of hours  under section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act.
The claim relates to attendance at a conference. A file is now being prepared for the DPP, after he was released without charge.
The councillor declined to comment when contacted by the Evening Echo today.
