A man in his mid-20s has been arrested following a high-speed car chase in Cork city and suburbs, gardaí said.
The incident this lunchtime took place after gardaí received reports from members of the public in the city's Mayfield area, concerning the manner in which a car was being driven around the locality.
The motorist fled the scene when gardaí attempted to stop the car, with a 10-minute chase ensuing through the city's northside suburbs.
The car was subsequently stopped on the Grand Parade in the city centre and the man arrested and taken to the Bridewell Garda Station for questioning.
The car in question was removed for examination by gardaí. It could not be confirmed whether the vehicle had been stolen prior to the incident.
