The Taoiseach has again refused to say whether he supports same-sex marriage.

Enda Kenny has been quizzed in the Dáil today by Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin about referring the issue to the constitutional convention.

Despite repeated questions today, Mr Kenny refused to say whether he supports same-sex marriage, only saying his party supported civil partnerships and civil unions.

Míchéal Martin said the issue should go straight to a referendum and not be referred to the constitutional convention.

"I don't need a random selection of citizens to tell me whether I favour marriage equality or not. The Tánaiste doesn't either…This is something that every citizen has a right to decide on."
