Grab one of the top trends in the autumn-winter collections, says Fashion Editor EMMA CONNOLLY

THAT’S it! We’re officially over trying to embrace our summer wardrobes and squelching about in soggy sandals. We are more than ready to fast forward to some fresh, new autumn looks instead — if only for the benefit of being warm.
One huge trend we’re loving is all things purple.
Yes, that has been the colour of our goose bumped skin in the past few weeks, but for autumn, everything is taking on a purple shade of some description be it deep and dark or more like lavender.
Shapes are also looking angular and almost mannish which is an obvious move away from more fluid summer cuts.
Shoulders are straight, clean and masculine particularly in jackets.
And, wait for it, the peplum lingers on.
