A man in his 30s will appear before a Dublin court later, charged in relation to the violent attempted robbery of a shop in the city centre last weekend.

During the raid, a man threatened two staff members with a syringe. One of them later collapsed and was taken to hospital.

The attempted robbery happened shortly before 10pm on James St last Saturday night.

The suspect was arrested when gardaĆ­ arrived at the scene.

He has since been treated in hospital for a leg injury, and is due in court this morning.
