Calum Best and Geordie Shore’s Greg Lake are just two of the celebrities who have confirmed their appearance in the Carrigaline Soccer Club fundraising Celebrity Soccer match which will take place at Ballea Park on Saturday August 25th at 3pm.
Details of the day were outlined by event organiser Ken Dennehy who is expecting a large turnout for the event with proceeds going towards the Girls Club of Cork Cancer Support Group.
The Girls Club which was formed only last year, provides assistance and counselling to women who have been affected directly or indirectly by cancer, also providing a strong social outlet in Cork City and county. Their base is situated in St Pauls Avenue where founder Ann Downey Spillane hopes to provide vital support to members and their families including free counselling as well as offering a range of classes such as relaxation classes, zumba, aerobics etc, various workshops, complimentary therapies and a drop-in centre during the day.
The match will consist of a showbiz and sporting team against a Carrigaline Utd selection and will be part of a fun filled day for all of the family with the match due to commence at 3pm sharp. Tickets, priced at €5 for general admission, €10 for a limited stand ticket and 2 adults plus 2 kids at €15 are available from the clubhouse at Ballea Park, the Girls Club at St Pauls Avenue in Cork, the Rising Tide Bar and Restaurant, Glounthaune and Pulse Models.ie online.
Present at the launch were event organisers Girls Club of Cork founder Ann Downey Spillane; Ken Dennehy of Carrigaline soccer club; David Kelleher of Pulse Models.ie and Sandra Murphy of the Rising Tide, Glounthaune, and TV3′s ‘The Apprentice’ contestant in 2011. Also present were Martha Torpey, Girls Club, Carol Anthony and Ashley Lovett and Stephen Grainger of Red FM who will provide commentary on the day.
