WOW! beauty news: We test out the new hair smoothening treatment from ALFAPARF…

No frizz, no fuss, no fretting — and no formaldehyde as ALFAPARF launches  Lisse Design Keratin Therapy hair smoothening treatment.
This is not a hair straightening treatment, it’s designed to smoothen unruly and frizzy hair and will last for up to two months on non-coloured hair and three months for coloured hair. In fact, the hair can have a smoothening and colour service on the same day.
We sent Grace Wrenne, inset, to try it out at the new five star salon from the award-winning Wayne Lloyd team, in Bandon. Inspired by the success of his flagship salon in Ballydehob, west Cork, Wayne has opened a salon closer to Cork.
Nicole Spendlove, Technical Consultant with ALFAPARF explains what she did: “Grace has long, thick and difficult to manage hair, so the Lisse Design Keratin smoothing therapy is
perfect for someone who wants to make their hair easier to manage on a day-to-day basis.
Grace says: “Nicole was waiting for me on arrival, sat me down had a quick look at my hair and told me about the treatment I was about to have.
“As I was brought to the basin for the first wash, Nicole went on to tell me that formaldehyde is now banned in hair products — glad to hear it! Also, the treatment is salt and paraben free.
“Then it was back to the chair there the treatment began. My hair was roughly blow-dried then sectioned. Thin strips of my hair were then coated in a thin
solution, combed through, then left to dry naturally for about 20 minutes.
“My hair was straightened, each section about 12/14 times. This varies for each person, but I have a lot of hair which is strong and coarse, so it took a fair while. Once my whole head of hair was straightened, it was back to the wash basin where a mask was  applied for about 10 minutes.
“My treatment was nearly over. As Nicole started to blow dry my hair for the final time, she mentioned that the treatment is safe for pregnant women and breast-feeding mums. It’s also for people who suffer from psoriasis  as the treatment does not touch the scalp. You  must use the aftercare shampoo and the
conditioner to help prolong the life of the treatment as these are both salt and paraben free, 17.95 each.
“I had the treatment done three weeks ago  and it  has made my life easier as now I  can I leave the house with just my hair blow dried! One thing I have noticed is that my hair does get greasy much quicker and  needs to be washed every other day.
