The German tourist rescued last night after going missing in the Lough Ree area didn't suffer any injuries.

An air and sea search was launched at about 8pm when a cruiser with three men aboard ran aground close to Barley Harbour in Co Longford.

Two men were rescued from the vessel but a third man had left the scene on a dingy in a failed attempt to raise the alarm.
