Carrigaline 5-15
Glanmire 1-6
THREE goals in the first nine minutes put Carrigaline well on their win to victory in their Rebel Og Premier 1 MFC clash with Glanmire at CIT last night.
The third goal put them 12 points in front and from here to the end the result was never in doubt. Carrigaline are a talented side and have the forwards with the potential to make life difficult for any defence. Led by the likes of Jamie DePuis, Killian McIntyre and Brian Coakley they set up chance after chance and between the three of them scored 5-11 of Carrigaline’s total.
Shane Griffin, Stephen McGuire and Peter Mullane were also in top form for the winners as they dominated for long periods of the game.
Glanmire will be disappointed with their showing and know they are a better side than their performance last night. For them Duncan Tsu, James O’Sullivan, Killian Burke and Aaron O’Mahony were the pick of their side.
Carrigaline started at a frantic pace and Coakley got their first goal after just 30 seconds. Griffin followed with a point from the re-start, with Coakley adding another, before DePuis got their second goal. DePuis added a third and when Coakley pointed they led 3-3 to no score after just nine minutes.
A shell-shocked Glanmire got off the mark when O’Sullivan pointed from a free after 13 minutes and he added a second a minute later.
Coakley and Alan Connolly exchanged points before Coakley got Carrigaline’s fourth goal after 17 minutes. Coakley, McIntyre and Lynch added points as Carrigaline led 4-7 to 0-3 at the break.
O’Sullivan got the first score of the second-half but two points apiece from McIntyre and DePuis extended Carrigaline’s lead.
O’Sullivan pulled a goal back for Glanmire but his effort was quickly followed by one from McIntyre for Carrigaline, to make it 5-11 to 1-4.
Credit to Glanmire they kept battling away with O’Sullivan adding two more points, but McIntyre, McGuire and O’Reilly all scored late on to see Carrigaline run out easy and deserving winners as Glanmire bow out of this year’s championship.
