In Lisgoold
Erins Own 3-15
Castlelyons 1-15

GOALS win matches is what they say and that was definitely the case yesterday evening in Lisgoold, where Erins Own booked their place in the East Cork U21A hurling championship final with a six point victory over Castlemartyr.
The Caherlag men got the first score of the evening, but the healthy attendance had to wait nine minutes to see the first flag raised and it was a green one as a great long ball in was met by Cian O’Callaghan who finished superbly with a great goal for Erin’s Own.
The sides exchanged three points each, then Erin’s Own struck twice with points on the 25th minute off Cathal O’Mahony, then a third score of the evening from the excellent Mark Collins. Castlelyons replied with a pointed free of the deadly accurate Castlelyons captain Colm Spillane to leave his side four in arrears at the break.
The second half started well for Castlelyons, after conceding an early point Castlelyons sprung into action with three points without reply to leave just two points between the sides.
The sides exchanged two further points, then Erin’s Own struck their second goal when the Castlelyons defence hesitated Mark Collins was in like a flash to bury the ball into the net.
Things got worse for Castlelyons when Diarmuid Ring netted Erin’s Own their third goal of the match.
A lot of credit must go to Castlelyons who battled hard and got within two points on the 56th minute, but Erin’s Own struck four late points to progress to play Midleton in this years final.
