After their respective wins in the Premier Junior, and Junior A hurling finals on Saturday last both Kildorrery and Kilshannig were in action in Mourneabbey in the Country Clean Under 21 B HC quarter final on Monday night under lights.
After the sides were level at 0-1 each after 3 minutes it was Kilshannig who dominated and helped by key players Roddy O’Mahony, Cian Nagle, Damian Murphy, Denis Clogan, Frank McCarthy, Jack O’Regan, John Quinn and Killian O’Hanlon all put in a huge performance they led for the rest of the game. Kildorrery depended alot on Finbarr Stapleton, Cormac O’Baoill, Michael Lillis, William Fouhy and Dave Kelly. Killian O’Hanlon had a personal tally of 0-10. O’Hanlon along with John Quinn, Denis Clogan and Jack O’Regan struck some massive points in the first half. The ‘Hill trailed 0-7 to 0-2 after 17 minutes but did well before the break with Finbarr Stapleton (4) and Dave Kelly (2) closing the gap 0-12 to 0- 8 at the halftime.  They were also denied a couple of goal scoring chances by an inform Michael Twomey in goal.
Kilshannig did well on the changeover. Early points in succession by Killian O’ Hanlon, Frank McCarthy and John Quinn made it 0-15 to 0-8. Kildorrery had to move their influential forward Finbarr Stapleton to midfield. They lacked scoring power up front and it was Kilshannig who dominated. Damian Murphy was excellent at centre back all through.  Kildorrery had to wait till the 46th minute for their first score of the half a pointed free by Dave Kelly.  Finbarr Stapleton followed with a pointed 65 with Niall Kelly putting William Fouhy in for a great point on the  run. Kilshannig used the short passing to good effect and points by Damian Murphy long range free, Killian O’Hanlon (2) Cian Nagle, and John Quinn saw them edge 0-20 to 0-11 ahead as the game entered injury time. Deep in injury time Cormac O’Baoill put Dave Kelly through for the last score of the game.
