Liscarroll     0 – 13
Fermoy         1 -  8

(AET)
For the second time in the space of a week Liscarroll and Fermoy couldn’t be separated in the Health and Safety Services JBFC (2) semi final as they were again level at the end of normal time. Last week they finished deadlocked following extra time at 3-11 to 0-20. On Monday evening at Castletownroche they again finished all square at full time with Liscarroll eventually emerging victorious by a two point margin. As the scoreline suggests very little separated the teams throughout the game. They were level at 0-1 and 0-2 early on before Liscarroll’s John Buckley gave his side the lead in the 15th minute when he pointed a free. Fermoy shaded matters where they worked the short passing to great effect and moments later struck for the only goal of the game when Mattie Condon goaled from a penalty. Further pressure saw Mark Flynn and Nigel Brennock combine well to place Kenneth Dawson for a point. Back came Liscarroll before the interval with points by Tony O’Flaherty and John Buckley  that closed the gap at the break 1-4 to 0-5.
On the changeover Martin O’Brien got proceedings under way when he kicked over a fine point for Liscarroll but back came the youthful Fermoy side with Mattie Condon and Ronan O’Hagan having points by the 40th minute that appeared to put a bit of daylight between the teams when leading by 1-6 to 0-6. However in a gripping finish Liscarroll introduced substitute Colm Conroy into attack where he played a major role in this sides recovery along with Sean Egan, John Buckley, Michael Doyle, Liam Fitzpatrick and Padraic Egan and by the 51st minute they found themselves back on level terms at 0-9 to 1-6. The momentum was with Liscarroll at this stage and they were denied a certain goal  chance when the Fermoy keeper Cillian Twomey made a splendid save from John Buckley with the resulting ’45 by John Buckley setting up Tony O’Flaherty for a well taken point. In the closing moments Fermoy upped their efforts and it was only fitting that they brought the game to extra time when Mattie Condon pointed at the end of normal time 0-10 to 1-7.
The first period of extra time was keenly contested with just one score recorded when Adam Forde kicked over a great point for Fermoy that helped them to a slender lead at the interval.
On the changeover it was Liscarroll’s turn to shade matters and they levelled when John Buckley pointed a free 1-8 to 0-11. Further pressure saw James Kelly and Michael Doyle open up a two point game but Fermoy refused to give in and as the final whistle approached they missed a chance at goal when the Liscarroll netminder Mark Fitzpatrick made a point blank save from Ronan O’Hagan with the rebound falling kindly into the path of Craig Murphy who was wide. This was soon greeted by the final whistle with Liscarroll holding out for a place in the final against either Mitchelstown or Kilshannig.
