Talks at the Labour Relations Commission between unions representing health workers in the North East and HSE management have been adjourned this evening.

It has been agreed that staffing levels prior to September 1 in critical areas of the Louth/Meath area will be maintained for a further two weeks to allow for further negotiations to take place.

The meeting came in the wake of an announcement by the HSE of the closure of 50 beds as well as the letting go of all agency staff by December 1 in order to reign in the area's health budget.

Industrial Relations Officer with the INMO, Tony Fitzpatrick, has said further talks will take place on Monday.
