A WEEKEND of tragedies left four men dead in three communities across Cork.
The death of two bright young graduates in Kinsale yesterday morning has been described as a shocking incident that took the lives of two men who “had everything to live for.”
Michael Coleman and Liam Coffey, both aged 22, and from Waterford, were discovered at a house on Abbey Lane in the town.
Michael, a chemical engineering graduate of Cork Institute of Technology, had just started work at Eli Lilly last week. A spokesman for the company said Michael had huge potential.
“The event has been a big shock to everyone here. Our focus now is on supporting Michael’s family.”
A book of condolences was opened at CIT chapel today. CIT registrar Dr Barry O’Connor said they extended their sincere condolences to both families and “in particular to the family of Michael Coleman, son of our work colleague Kevin.”
Gardaí are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before confirming the cause of their deaths.
Meanwhile, in Mallow, 19-year-old Gary Fleming lost his life after getting into difficulties at a local swimming spot known as the Bullworks on Saturday. He was remembered today as a valued member of his community.
Separately, a file is to be sent to the DPP after 53-year-old Mark Corbett was found dead on Friday evening. Mr Corbett, a father of two, was found with head injuries in Seskin about a mile from the centre of Bantry town.
