MORE than 1 million euro is likely to be raised tomorrow for local charities through the Evening Echo Women’s Mini Marathon.
The event —which starts at 1pm on Centre Park Road — has become one of the main fund-raisers for several charities in Cork city and county.
Hundreds of people are expected to undertake the 4-mile challenge to raise funds for the Friends of Marymount Hospice.
Tens of thousands of euro is expected to be raised by runners, joggers and walkers for the group.
Head of the group, Pat Maher, said: “It is one of the biggest fund-raisers we have every year, along with our flag day which we had on Thursday and our coffee morning event next week.”
One group taking part to raise funds for Marymount has 60 people.
10,000 people are expected to take part in tomorrow’s 31st event— see Monday’s Evening Echo for more.
