CULTURE vultures were out in force last night to sample some of the events held as part of
Culture night.
An estimated 30,000 visited 83 venues throughout the city last night to attend 200 free events.
Huge crowds were captivated at City Hall as they watched Sorcaluba, a daring aerial trapeze show.
Other highlights which proved to be hugely successful in Cork last night included live sketching at the Glucksman in UCC, Art in the Park at Fitzgerald Park, Flava Floors breakdancing classes on Coburg Street and free food on Cornmarket Street.  Crowds also gathered for the Horsemen Pass By concert in City Hall.
Now in its seventh year, the idea of Culture Night is for galleries, theatres, cinemas, workshops, studios and other artistic venues to open their doors to the public late into the night.
Since its foundation, the event has grown to become one of the most important cultural events annual in Ireland.
Night owls also gathered in crowds for the Lee Sessions, a series of trad music sessions in pubs around the city.
