A 22-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after a two-seater plane crashed in Co Donegal.

He was the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft, which went down at Carrick Convoy at about 1.30pm today.

The Coastguard helicopter has airlifted the man - who suffered serious injuries - to Letterkenny General Hospital.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit has launched an inquiry into the matter.
