The Taoiseach said that he wants to see banking union across the EU become a reality.

He was speaking in Brussels where a team of Irish Government Ministers held collective talks with the EU Commission.

Enda Kenny said decisive action is needed at EU level to separate national debt from banking debt:

"We want to see banking union become a reality, not just one element of that but the entire process as per the decision in order to demonstrate that the link between sovereign debt and bank debt has been broken", he said.

"That means that leaders have to act with confidence and with decisiveness"
