Two men remain in a serious condition in hospital this morning, after suspected overdoses of highly potent heroine circulating in Cork City.

The HSE last night issued a warning to heroin users in Cork, after two men died from suspected overdoses.

Overnight, gardaí carried out a number of raids on the homes of suspected drug dealers and recovered a small quantity of heroin.

Initial tests have shown it is not contaminated, but further tests have to be conducted to establish the heroin's purity and to establish whether it is responsible for the two deaths.
