Gardaí have arrested two men after the seizure of €34,000 worth of cannabis resin in the Naas area.
Detectives from Naas assisted by members from the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) stopped and searched a car in the Naas area yesterday afternoon, and discovered the cannabis resin.
Two men, aged 40 and 41, were arrested at the scene and taken to Naas garda station.
Both men were detained under the provisions of Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
In a follow-up operation yesterday afternoon, an apartment was searched and resulted in the seizure of cocaine, cannabis herb and cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €83,000. Cash and drug paraphernalia was also recovered.
One of the men detained was released without charge this morning. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The second man remains in custody and investigations are continuing.
