In the final part of our series where hometown women model local fashions, SARAH HORGAN chats to glamorous mum Ger Walsh
Having secured the coveted title of Best Dressed Lady many times at races nationwide, Ger can put together a multitude of looks at the drop of a Prada hat.
Despite being a mother to four young children, she manages to live a glamorous life.
“There’s a widely believed assumption that when a woman makes that bumpy transition to motherhood, she must give the hair the chop and sport shapeless clothing,” she says.
“Kinsale ladies wear clothes that suit their personalities. Jan, who owns Jane’s Boutique in the town, is a perfect example of where motherhood still leaves room for self-expression. She puts us all to shame on the school runs; you would swear she steps out of the shower with full hair and make-up!
“Caoilfhionn Collins, a local lady renowned for her style, is probably the epitome of Kinsale Couture. Her clothes are so funky and she prefers to set rather than follow trends.
“Women here are supportive of one another which can probably be seen from today’s shoot. Everyone worked together to make this happen and in a small town, it’s crucial that businesses work
together in order to keep the economy buoyant,” says Ger.
