Gardaí were continuing their investigations today following the discovery of the body of a woman in a city centre flat last night. The body of the 41-year-old was found at the bottom of the stairs at a block of apartments at Clifden Terrace, Summer Hill North. Gardaí went to the scene at 9.30pm last night after the were alerted by a 999 call and discovered the woman’s body. The body remained at the scene overnight, and this morning members of the garda forensic team carried out a technical examination. The quiet cul-de-sac overlooking Kent Street Train Station was cordoned off this morning as gardaí completed their examination. Deputy State pathologist Margot Bolster also arrived at the scene earlier this morning and carried out a preliminary post-mortem examination. The body of the woman, who is believed to be from Fair Hill, was removed from the scene at 10.45am and taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem exam was due to be carried out. A man in his 30s was helping gardaí with their enquiries earlier today, however gardaí said he was not arrested. The cause of the woman’s death was still unknown pending the result of the post-mortem examination.
