Ireland has come 12th in a list of the 80 best countries in which to be born.

The Economist Intelligence Unit has been ranking places in terms of a child's best chances in life, across categories such as life expectancy, quality of family life and contentment.

Ireland might have been outside the top 10, but still came out several places higher than France, Germany, the UK and the US.

Switzerland was named the best place to be born, with Australia in second place, and Norway in third.
