GARDAÍ arrested a 50-year-old woman on charges related to alleged cocaine dealing at a bingo night in Cork city and a condition of her bail yesterday was that she would stay away from the bingo hall.
Helen Heaphy from 59 Kerryhall Road, Fair Hill, Cork, was arrested by Garda Danielle Hegarty on Wednesday night, July 9.
Heaphy was charged with possession of cocaine and having the illegal drug for sale or supply at Deanrock Business and Techology Park in Togher in Cork on July 9, 2014.
Garda Danielle Hegarty testified at Cork District Court yesterday that she arrested, charged and cautioned Heaphy, and that she made no reply to either charge.
Inspector Finbarr O’Sullivan said gardaí had no objection to bail once certain conditions were met, including that Ms Heaphy reside at her home at Kerryhall Road in Fair Hill and signs at Gurranabraher Garda Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The third bail condition required by gardaí was that she would not attend Rock Bingo events at the Deanrock Business and Technology Park in Togher between now and the date of the adjournment.
Heaphy’s solicitor, Diane Hallahan, said that her client consented to all the conditions.
Judge Leo Malone remanded her on bail to appear again on September 3.
Ms Hallahan applied for legal aid on the basis that Heaphy was not working. Judge Malone required a written statement of means and when this was provided he granted free legal aid.
