UCC defend Collingwood Cup crown against Mary I first

COLLINGWOOD Cup holders, UCC will open their first defence of the trophy with a Munster derby clash against Noel O’Connor’s Mary Immaculate of Limerick in Belfast when the Irish Universities soccer championship kicks-off up north in early February.

While UCD the beaten finalists will take on the winner of the University of Limerick versus Maynooth University first round tie.

Queens University, Belfast are the hosts of the tournament for the first time since 2004.

The leading Irish fast food brand Rustlers - part of the Kepak Group - will sponsor the Collingwood Cup as part of their long-term agreement to support all men’s and women’s Third Level Football competitions throughout Ireland.

The draw was held at the Queens Sport Dub Pavilion in Belfast over the weekend and includes a first round of fixtures to be played prior to Collingwood week.

First Round: NUIGalway v DCU; University of Limerick v Maynooth University; Trinity College Dublin v Royal College of Surgeons. Games to be played on Wednesday, January 29 with first named teams having home advantage.

Quarter Finals: UCC v Mary Immaculate College; Ulster University v NUI Galway/DCU; Queens University v Trinity College Dublin/Royal College of Surgeons;University of Limerick/Maynooth University v UCD.

Games to be played on Monday, February 5 at Queens Sport Belfast with the final on Wednesday, February 7.
