 High Court restricts publication of clerical abuse report 19/11/2009 - 18:19:48 The High Court has further restricted publication of the Commission's report into sexual abuse by priests in the Dublin Archdiocese. Mr Justice Paul Gilligan has ordered the removal of 41 references to a priest and his brother in the report because it could jeopardise criminal proceedings. The report was commissioned to look at the Catholic hierarchy's handling of abuse allegations in the Dublin archdiocese between 1975 and 2004. Last month the court ruled out publication of chapter 19 for similar reasons. Ellen O'Malley Dunlop of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre says she hopes today's decision paves the way for its early release. Ms O'Malley Dunlop said: "We expect that it will be published next week. "But I think it is really important for the victims that it is published and published as soon as possible - even with the redactions at this stage." |
