Tallaght Hospital board to be cut 3/16/2010 - 10:05:43 AM ![]() The Board of Tallaght Hospital is to be more than halved as part of reforms being implemented following the X-ray scandal. In a statement this morning, the hospital has also confirmed that's it is to make fundamental changes to its management structures and governance. This will include the creation of a new post of Director of Quality at the hospital. It emerged last week that almost 58,000 X-rays were not read by a consultant radiologist over a four-year period. It was also revealed that at one stage thousands of GP referral letters were left unopened. Health Minister Mary Harney said she welcomed: "Any steps that can be taken to improve the governance of the Hospital so that roles are clarified and procedures are streamlined." "The only priority must be that the new arrangements are to the benefit of patients," Minister Harney said. |
