Man charged over jockeys' blaze deaths 11/26/2009 - 11:02:47 PM A 37-year-old man was charged tonight with the murders of two young jockeys who died in a fire at a flat. Peter Brown, from Malton, North Yorkshire, will face magistrates tomorrow morning, accused of murdering promising apprentices Jamie Kyne, 18, and Jan Wilson, 19, in September this year. Mr Kyne, from Co Galway, and Miss Wilson, from Forfar, Scotland, died in the blaze at a flats complex in Norton, near Malton, North Yorkshire. The deaths of the two young riders shocked the racing world and a series of tributes were held at racecourses and yards across Britain and Ireland. Brown was arrested yesterday by officers investigating the blaze at the three-storey block of flats on September 5. Tonight, a North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A 37-year-old man who was arrested yesterday has now been charged with two counts of murder.” Brown will appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning. |
