Ryanair traffic up 17% in May

Ryanair today said it flew 6.44 million people during the month of May, an increase of 17% on traffic of 5.51m for the same month last year.

Load factor - the number of passengers as a percentage of total seats available - for the month was unchanged at 81%.

Traffic for the 12 months to end May 2010 stood at 68.3m with a load factor of 82%, the company said.

The company said its May 2010 figures include up to 250,000 passengers who were booked to fly on flights which were cancelled due to the closures of parts of EU airspace following the volcanic eruptions in Iceland.
