Halving kids salt intake reduces risk of stroke/heart attack 10/31/2006 - 4:05:17 PM New health research shows that reducing a child's salt intake results in a major reduction in the risk of stroke and heart attacks in later life. The study, published in medical journal Hypertension, says that halving the amount of salt in a child's diet leads to an immediate fall in blood pressure. The Irish Heart Foundation is urging parents not to give their youngsters frozen foods or salty snacks like crisps. |
