Mansergh: Flooding inquiry 'not the way to go'

The Minister of State Martin Mansergh says an independent investigation into last year's flooding is not the best way forward.

Yesterday, an Oireachtas Committee report found a lack of leadership and communication during the flooding which devastated Cork, parts of the west and Carlow and Kilkenny in November 2009.

Minister Mansergh said he feared the desire to "point the finger" was motivating calls for an independent inquiry, and that he was "not convinced that's the way to go".
