Gardaí detain five in connection with tiger kidnapping 9/5/2010 - 10:00:49 AM ![]() Five men remain in Garda custody in connection with a tiger kidnapping and robbery in Dublin. Its believed up to €300,000 was stolen in last week's incident. The five men in custody - aged in their 20s and 30s - were arrested during a series of Garda raids on homes in West Dublin and Kildare yesterday. A large amount of cash, believed to have been taken from the AIB branch in Clondalkin was also recovered. The robbery got underway in the early hours of Thursday morning when a gang forced their way into a couple's home in Templeogue and took a woman hostage. Her husband - a bank official - was forced to go to the bank and withdraw a significant amount of cash for the gang. Reports suggest the gang used a crude listening device so they would know if he alerted gardaí. His wife was later released unharmed in Wicklow. The five arrested are being detained at garda stations across Dublin city. |
