 'Our grandchildren will be paying for Anglo mess' 9/5/2010 - 11:46:41 AM  Almost three quarters of Irish people believe Anglo Irish Bank will bankrupt the country and bring down the Government, according to a poll in today's Sunday Independent. It emerged earlier in the week that the final cost to the taxpayers could reach €35bn. Chief economist with friends First, Jim Power, is warning that future generations will also have to deal with the problem. Mr Power said: "It is going to cost us an awful lot more and it is going to impose huge fiscal pain on this country for generations to come. "Our children and their children will be paying for this mess." |
