 Gillick pulls out of relay heat 7/31/2010 - 10:05:17 AM David Gillick has pulled out of the Irish team for the men's 4x400m relay heat. The Irish team now contains Gordon Kennedy, Brian Murphy, Brian Greegan and Stephen Colvert. Last night Gillick suffered a massive disappointment for in the 400 metre final at the European Athletics Championships. The 27-year-old had to settle for fifth place behind Belgium's Kevin Borlèe. The Dubliner was Ireland's leading medal hope going into this week's action and appeared to be on-course to claim a podium position when he won his semi-final. However, Gillick's traditional strong finish never materialised as he stumbled across the line in a time of 45.28seconds - well off his personal best. |
